Village Books’ Chuckanut Radio Hour on Friday, April 17, features Brian Doyle, who will talk about his new coming-of-age novel, “Martin Marten.” The show is staged in Whatcom Community College’s Heiner Center Theatre, 237 W. Kellogg Road.
In the novel, Dave is a 14-year old about to start high school, one of the first steps toward adulthood. Martin is a pine marten, also growing up and finding his way in the world.
Set in the wilds of Oregon’s Mount Hood, as Dave and Martin cross paths, again and again, they witness the awe-inspiring interconnectedness of the world and its many inhabitants, human and otherwise.
In addition to Doyle’s talk, the Bellingham trio of June Fisher Thompson, Les Campbell and Jim DeBari will perform swing, blues and pop tunes.
