Whatcom Conservation District’s annual Plant Sale and Expo takes place 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at Whatcom Community College’s Roe Studio, 237 W. Kellogg Road. This year, there will be 40 species of native bareroot trees and shrubs, along with a variety of potted perennials.
Species for sale include yellow and western red cedars, Puget Sound juniper, western larch, Garry oak, red elderberry, red flowering currant and beaked hazelnut. Several nursery vendors and environmental organizations will attend to provide more plant-purchasing options. Festivities also include Earth-friendly educational opportunities, entertainment and food. Details: 360-354-2035, whatcomcd.org.
Also on Saturday, Fairhaven Neighbors’ annual Plant and Tree Sale is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel’s parking lot at 14th Street and Old Fairhaven Parkway. Along with expert advice from about 20 vendors, gardeners will find perennials, ornamentals, trees, native plants, herbs, vegetable starts, blueberries, bamboo and garden décor.
Proceeds benefit neighborhood projects and community outreach, including improvements to the Fairhaven Community garden. Details: See Fairhaven Plant and Tree Sale on Facebook, or call 360-671-5517.
