MUSIC: Jazz Celebration VII presents composer and musician Bob Storms

Bob Storms, longtime Ferndale musician, composer and educator, presents his annual “Jazz Celebration” concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 15, at Northwood Hall, 3240 Northwest Ave. Theme of the concert is “Improvisation.”

The Microsoft Jumpin’ Jive Orchestra will headline, with compositions from the Bob Storms songbook. The show starts with ragtime piano numbers, then boogie-woogie, followed by Dixieland, swing, Latin, jazz, waltz and more.

The music continues with local jazz groups, the Bellingham Dixieland All Stars, Alicia Dauber Quartet, Paul Sorensen Quartet with vocalist Kim Bowman, and The Honeybees. After the concert the Microsoft Jumpin’ Jive Orchestra will play big band favorites for swing dancing.

Each song in the concert portion of Jazz Celebration VII will be a composition written by Bob Storms, from his nine-volume music book collection entitled “Tunes From Toneville.”
