Whatcom Symphony and the Bellingham Festival of Music host The Oliver Reed Trio from Colburn Conservatory in Los Angeles in two “Play It Forward” concerts: at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Western Washington University’s Performing Arts Center; and at 7:30 p.m. March 21 at Bellingham High School, 2020 Cornwall Ave.
The trio – clarinet, bassoon and oboe – will perform works from the standard wind repertoire, as well as selected works from the Ziering-Conlon Initiative for Recovered Voices, which presents the works of composers suppressed by the rise of Nazi Germany during WWII. The trio will perform works by two such composers, Martinu and Schulhoff.
The concert is free for students; suggested donation for adults is $15, to benefit the festival’s music-in-the-schools programs.
