“Organic/Geometric: the Body/Mind” is a sculpture-dance collaboration conceived and directed by Bellingham sculptor Francie Allen. She worked with six art students and six Western Washington Univeristy dance students to create a sculptural installation with a dance event in the Viking Union Gallery, showing from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The current exhibit displays six large geometric forms created by each artist specifically for one of the dancers. During gallery hours, the costumed dancers will hold rehearsals for their performance, giving visitors the chance to watch their creative process.
The dance they create will take place during the closing reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at the gallery.
