Music: Klozd Sirkut’s ‘funk-tronica’ coming to Green Frog

Klozd Sirkut will return to Bellingham at 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at the Green Frog, 1015 N. State St., for the release of their first single, “Funky Town,” an imaginative reworking of the seminal 1979 disco hit.

Fronted by Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe’s Chris Littlefield on trumpet, fluegelhorn and keys, the group of four well-seasoned funk musicians harnesses the latest advances in music technology to its full potential. Their hybrid sound is derived from a vast pallet of influences, ranging from funk, jazz, rock and soul to world-beat, blended with a heavy dose of electronic dance music.

Other band members are “Papa” Josh Sirheinrich on guitar, bass and loops; Davee C. on drums and loops; and Joey Walbaum on keys.

This next installment of their ongoing West Coast micro-tour brings them and their bag of ‘funk-tronica’ back to one of their favorite haunts, says Littlefield.

Klozd Sirkut utilizes unique hybrid electro-instrumental setups combined with sound effects and recorded loops layered over a hard-groovin’, beat-driven framework to make their undeniable signature sound. Their mission; to grab you by the senses and take you on a voyage to a sonic oasis, with the dance floor is in the palm of their hands.

Cover is $7. More on the band at klozdsirkut.com.
