Bellingham Country Dance hosts all-ages New Year’s Eve party

A family-friendly New Year’s Eve gala dance and party, sponsored by Bellingham Country Dance, goes from 8 p.m. to midnight at Eagles Hall, 1125 N. Forsest St. It’s an alcohol-free, finger-food potluck, with sparkling cider, punch and party favors provided.

Wild Hair, a fun and eclectic dance band from Portland, Ore., renders folks giddy with danceable fiddle tunes and songs from Ireland, New England, Appalachia, French Canada and points beyond. Fiddler Betsy Branch, versatile Todd Silverstein (pennywhistle, alto sax, bouzouki), percussive guitarist Jeff Kerssen-Griep, and pianist Mark Douglass sync up a propulsive groove that’s spontaneous, harmonious, tight and feisty, played with contagious good humor aimed at your feet.

Marlin Prowell will call (instruct) the dance moves. Please refrain from wearing fragrances.

Admission: $15 adults, $10 students, free for kids 12 and younger. Details: 360-676-1554, bellinghamcountrydance.org.
