For people counting down the days until the Jan. 4 North American premiere of Season 5 of “Downton Abbey,” Semiahmoo Resort, Golf, & Spa, at 9565 Semiahmoo Parkway in Blaine, is offering an exclusive screening of the premiere episode.

The viewing party will begin at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, with 1920s-style beaded dresses, cloche and top hats, headbands, and other “Downton Abbey”-inspired attire optional, but highly encouraged.

Door prizes and prizes for best costume will be awarded. Semiahmoo Resort has partnered with Pacific Coast Public Television Association and KCTS 9 to provide the screening of the Season 5 premiere.

Season 5 kicks off in 1924, when the United Kingdom has its first Labour Party prime minister, radio is the latest miracle of the age, and Downton’s traditions are besieged on all fronts.

Reservations for the event can be made at downtonabbey5.eventbrite.com. The screening and reception are free, but seating is limited.
