New York trumpeter Josh Bruneau joins trombonist Steve Davis in concert

The Whatcom Jazz Music Arts Center hosts trombonist Steve Davis, who played with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, performing with trumpeter Josh Bruneau, in support of their new CD, “Bright Idea,” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at The Majestic, 1027 N. Forest St.

Playing original compositions in hard-bop style, they bring a strong, hard-swinging approach reminiscent of Jazz Messengers Horace Silver and Donal Byrd. The gig also features pianist Tony Foster, bassist Adam Thomas and drummer Julian MacDonough.

Tickets are $20 general, $10 students, available at Village Books. Admission is free for Arts Center members. Details: http://wjmac.org, 206-612-5967.
