Songwriter Ashley Raines plays from his new EP, “Blush,” at Bellingham's Green Frog

Ashley Raines grew up in the Midwest, hopping boxcars and teaching himself any instrument he could get his hands on. He recorded his songs on four-track reel-to-reel machines that he sold while performing on the street.

Since the late 1990s, Raines has toured and performed more than 150 concerts a year, performing on his signature Weissenborn, a custom hollow-neck lap-steel guitar. He has released 13 studio recordings since 2000.

Raines recently released his new EP, “Blush,” and will play a solo gig at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the Green Frog, 1015 N. State St. Cover is $7.
