WWU orchestra hosts Halloween benefit at Performing Arts Center

Western Washington University’s Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ryan Dudenbostel, presents its annual Halloween benefit featuring music with eerie themes and frightening pop-culture references at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at the Performing Arts Center Concert Hall, on campus.

The program includes “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” popularized by Disney’s movie “Fantasia;” Camille Saint Saens’ “Danse Macabre;” and Dvorak’s tone poem “The Noon Witch,” based on the tale of a mother who threatens her child with the frightening specter of a witch if the child does not behave.

Tickets, $5, are available at tickets.wwu.edu, at Western’s box office, 360-650-6146, and the door. Proceeds benefit Western’s Music Library.
