The third event in the Sudden Valley Jazz Series is a salute to two of jazz’s greatest innovators, Count Basie and Duke Ellington, performed by an all-star octet led by Vancouver pianist Miles Black, at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Sudden Valley YMCA, 8 Barnview Court (gate 2).
The vocalist with the octet is Seattle’s Greta Metassa, also with Clipper Anderson on bass, Julian MacDonough on drums, Mike Allen on alto sax, Jack Stafford on tenor sax, Ray Downey on baritone sax, Jimmy Austin on trombone and Chris Davis on trumpet.
