Bellingham poets reads from compendium of works

Jim Bertolino reads from his “Ravenous Bliss: New & Selected Love Poems,” and Anita K. Boyle shares her new poems from “The Drenched” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at Village Books, 1200 11th St.

“Ravenous Bliss” is a collection of poems written over 46 years. The cover features original artwork by Boyle, and the volume is published by MoonPath Press of Kingston.

“The Drenched” is a seven-part poem that develops a creation myth for the Pacific Northwest. The book is hand-built and illustrated by the poet in a limited edition of 75, published by Bellingham’s Egress Studio Press, a publishing, book design and manuscript-editing company they manage together. Egress is dedicated to publishing books only by Washington poets.

The married couple will also read poems from “Lit-Wads,” a collection they wrote collaboratively. It is a 60-page, hand-sewn edition with 21 original drawings by Boyle. Each of the poems provides a place and date between 2000 and 2011 for the composition of the poems, also published by Egress.
