Owner Aaron Matson intentionally focused The Copper Hog Gastropub on being the only bar in Bellingham dedicated to showing every Seattle Sounders soccer match. He said it was a niche that needed to be filled in town and also a personal interest of his.

"I just feel that ... soccer fans tend to be more passionate than most," Matson said.

Matson started the Copper Hog with the vision of creating a place where residents could come between work and home to relax with friends over a good beer and quality pub food.

On days when the Sounders play, the pub fills with fans dressed in blue and green. Conversations among customers become background noise to fans who cheer and occasionally sigh after a missed goal.
