With upbeat music, a stage on the dance floor and a reputation for innovative disc jockeys, Rumors Cabaret guarantees a dance party almost every night. Owner Wayne Miller is the first to admit he does not know what music is "in" with the young crowd in Bellingham, but said he has hired a young staff that helps him keep Rumors a downtown dancing hot spot, as it has been for 26 years.
Although the bar caters to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered crowd, Miller said, "(Rumors) is where everyone is welcome. Just keep your attitude out."
Miller said his goal is to make Rumors a safe and comfortable environment for anyone.
Along with the welcoming atmosphere, Miller said he does his best to keep drink prices down. He said he knows the recession has taken a toll on the community's spending habits and is trying to make sure people can still come out and enjoy themselves.
