The Ferndale and Squalicum girls’ golf teams each qualified two golfers to the Class 3A state tournament after Day 2 of the Northwest District tournament at Lake Padden Golf Course.
Squalicum’s Brinn Hovde shot a 93, four strokes better than her score on Monday, to finish fourth in the tournament. Her teammate, Nicole Wakabayashi, was one spot back and finished tied for fifth with her score of 198.
Ferndale’s Mandy Wittmier tied with Wakabayashi for fifth to lead the Golden Eagles and Alyssa Lane was seventh with a 200. Jessica Russell finished 11th with a score of 209 and is the first alternate to state. Everett’s Stefanie Soelling won the meet with her total of 174.
The Class 3A state tournament will be held next Tuesday and Wednesday at Shuksan Golf Course.
