Khalsa finishes fourth at Cutthroat Classic

Tahoma Khalsa of Bellingham finished fourth overall and third in the 30-39 male division in the Cutthroat Classic mountain running race on Saturday, Aug. 23, with a time of 1:19.43.

Finishing eighth overall and second in the 40-49 male division was Albert Coyle of Bellingham with a time of 1:23.28.

WESTERN HOSTS SUMMER YOUTH FOOTBALL CLINIC

The Western Washington University Athletics Department is sponsoring a Summer Youth Football Clinic from 5 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, at Civic Stadium.

The free one-hour clinic, which begins at 5 p.m., is for kids from five to 12 years old.

Conducting the clinic will be members of the WWU football team, which has its second preseason scrimmage that same day, beginning at 7 p.m.

Skills and techniques will be taught for every position with free hot dogs and sodas provided to all attendees by the Valhalla Booster Club.

MANIAC MONKEYS WIN AT TOURNAMENT

The Meridian Maniac Monkeys sixth grade girls won their division in the Bellingham Parks and Rec Hoop Jam 3-on-3 basketball tournament Saturday, Aug. 23. at Bellingham High School.

They went undefeated on their way to beating the Aggregates West Lady Rockcrushers in the championship game.

Meridian players were Makayla Lancaster, Sydney Swanson, Tanna Benson, and Sara Dougan. They were coached by Ryan Bunker.
