Cody Boyd's football odyssey took another turn on Tuesday, Aug. 26, when the former Ferndale High School and Washington State University standout was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The tight end played in Pittsburgh's first preseason game this season, but hadn't seen action in the Steelers last two games after injuring his shoulder. If Boyd clears waivers he could return to the Steelers' roster on the injured reserve.
Boyd was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by Pittsburgh in 2007, but was released by the team during the preseason. He spent most of last season on the Washington Redskins' practice squad before resigning with the Steelers for the 2008 season in the offseason.
