The Western Washington University football team added another former NCAA Division I player to its roster on Wednesday, Aug. 6, announcing that one-time University of Oregon receiver Jordan Carey is joining the squad this fall.

Carey, who hasn't played college football in at least two years, was a standout playing semi-professionally for the Whatcom Raiders this spring. The 23-year-old enters WWU as a junior and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Carey was one of the state's most heralded high school players coming out of Olympia's Capital High School in 2003, but after spending two seasons at Oregon he was dismissed from the team for failing several drug tests because of marijuana use.

Carey was named the state's Class 4A Player of Year by the Seattle Times in 2002 and as a senior tallied 2,700 all-purpose yards with 27 touchdowns. He could play several positions at WWU including running back, wide receiver or safety.

Carey is the second former Pacific-10 Conference player the Vikings have added this summer. Washington State University quarterback Cole Morgan signed with the team in June.
