Mitch Ludtke pitched a solid game and King Nissan Post 7 cruised to a 9-2 Senior Legion baseball victory over the Skagit Sox on Tuesday at Joe Martin Field.
Ludtke struck out eight over six innings and improved to 2-0.
“He pitched really well,” Post 7 coach Donny Hennigs said in a phone interview. “I was pretty impressed with him.”
Post 7 (8-6-1) scored two runs without a hit to take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Post 7 added four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 6-0 lead. Chad Van- Berkum had a two-run single and Spencer Hannah had an RBI double in the four-run fourth inning.
Skagit scored two runs in the fifth inning, but Post 7 matched the visitors with two more runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Zack Halverson was 3 for 4 with an RBI and three runs and Jared Vera was 2 for 3 with two RBI and a run for Post 7. Dane Siegfried was 1 for 1 with a double and RBI.
Post 7 was scheduled to play a doubleheader today against Budd Bay of Olympia but the team is unable to get to Bellingham in time from a tournament in California.
Instead, Post 7 next plays at 5 p.m. on Thursday at Sehome High School against Walla Walla.
