SKI TO SEA UPDATES

Cross country and downhill skiers/snowboarders who wish to practice at the Mt. Baker Ski Area for the Ski to Sea Race should be aware there is major construction going on over the snow to replace Mt. Baker Chair No. 1.

There are 20-foot dropoff deep snow-cat tracks and skiers/snowboarders are advised not to use the normal cross country track. Practice areas advised are up Chair No. 3 and over to Chair No. 5 and back to Heather Meadows.

The tracks and course will be in good condition about five days before the race May 25.

Also, registration spots for the Ski to Sea Junior Race on May 17 are filling up fast.

There is still room to enroll in the Middle School and Community Divisions. The Elementary Division is full, but elementary teams can still race against each other in the Community Division/Elementary Level.

To register for the Ski to Sea Junior Race, go to www.SkitoSea.com to request a brochure or go to the Bellingham Chamber of Commerce offices at 1201 Cornwall Ave., Suite 100.
