The Sehome girls basketball team rebounded from their first loss of the season with a 60-56 overtime win against Foss in the Carly Stowell Memorial tournament in Kentlake.

Sehome’s Lindsay Johnson hit a 3- pointer with 12 seconds remaining in regulation and the Mariners made a defensive stop to send the game into OT.

Sehome coach Ed Wissing said in a phone interview that the Mariners then limited Foss’ offensive rebounds, which Sehome had been giving up earlier in the game, to seal the victory.

“It was great,” Wissing said. “It would have been easy to fold up shop with the break coming up, but the girls worked hard for the win.”

Brittany Todhunter scored 15 points and pulled down nine rebounds for the Mariners (6-1) and Jackie Zender added 13 points.

GIRLS’ WRESTLING

MOUNTAINEERS DOMINATE

The Mount Baker girls’ wrestling team put on a show at the Lady Wolfpack Invitational at Jackson High School in Everett.

Kristen Fogg (125), Ashlee Phy (145) and Angel Ortiz (160) all took home titles in their classifications as the Mountaineers also won the team title with a score of 136. The next closest team was Emerald Ridge with a score of 83.

All three of the champions pinned their opponent within the first round of the championship, Fogg earned her first tournament title and Phy improved her season record to 13-0.

Rosie Rosas (103) and Alex Lepper (135) took third place and Karina Rosas (112), Sam Mount (119) and Chloe Grafwallner (285) took fourth place in their weight classes.

“I thought the girls overall wrestled pretty well,” Baker coach Ron Lepper said. “It’s nice to get three championships but all our girls contributed to the team score.”

BOYS' BASKETBALL

BELLINGHAM 55, ARCHBISHOP MURPHY 32

Devon Delaney and Pete Carlson combined to help lead the Red Raiders to a non-conference win at home.

Delaney provided the boost inside Bellingham with game highs of 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Pete Carlson added 12 points and nine assists.

“Those two guys were magnificent,” Red Raiders coach Mark Wright said in a phone interview. “They were able to find each other.”

Bellingham put the game away with a 21-7 advantage in the fourth quarter.

“I was really proud with the way our guys hung in there,” Wright said. “We were able to rebound and get out and run.”

The win improved Bellingham to 5-2 while Archbishop Murphy dropped to 2-2.

MOUNT BAKER 52, INTERLAKE 49

Down at halftime, the Mountaineers came out in the third quarter with a 10- 0 run to get back into the game and pulled away in the fourth quarter at home in non-conference action.

Mount Baker (4-3) was down 29-21 at halftime before taking the lead 31-29 in the third quarter. The Mountaineers then were down three points to start the fourth quarter and took the lead for good with three minutes to play.

“It came down to making some free throws,” Mount Baker coach Rob Gray said in a phone interview.

Derek Franks scored 13 points and Pete Valum added 10 points to lead the Mountaineers. Gray credited Tyler Compton and Travis Doser with strong play off the bench in the fourth quarter.
