Sehome’s boys’ soccer team took the early lead with a 30th minute goal but then conceded two late goals in its 2-1 loss against Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday, April 14, at Civic Stadium.
Gabriel Weight netted the lone goal for the Mariners off an assist from Kevin Sun. Devan Trueb saved seven shots taken by the Cubs, Sehome had 10 shots on goal in the match.
“We looked really great up until the last seven or eight minutes,” Sehome coach John Sylvester said in a phone interview. “We played some of our best soccer actually. Just a heartbreaker to lose. We’ve got to completely finish off games in the last minutes and we weren’t quite able to do that despite playing well most of the game.”
Sedro-Woolley scored the tie-breaker on a rebound shot after Trueb saved a hard shot taken outside the 18-yard box.
