Brandon Burbank scored a goal and tallied an assist in Squalicum’s boys’ soccer 2-0 win over Nooksack Valley in a Northwest Conference match on Tuesday, March 24, at Nooksack Valley Elementary School.
Burbank opened the scoring off a corner kick from Tyler Hughes in the 45th minute and then found Zachary Wallace in the 65th minute to secure the victory. Ben Peterson and Quinn Carpenter were also highlights for Storm coach Joe McAuliffe.
Despite losing 2-0, McAuliffe saw a growing Nooksack program that can make noise this year.
“They really built a good program. They’re a solid team,” McAuliffe said in a phone interview. “They have great speed at the back and they can handle the ball well.”
Never miss a local story.
Squalicum plays Bellingham on Thursday, March 26, at Civic Stadium. The Pioneers play Burlington-Edison Thursday at home.
