Lynden’s girls’ soccer team couldn’t stop Burlington-Edison’s Edie Breckenridge in a 2-0 Northwest Conference loss on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Lynden High School.
Breckenridge scored in the 25th and 45th minute and the Lions’ offense struggled again.
“We knew going into it she was the player to watch,” Lynden (6-2-6, 4-2-4 NWC) coach Carlos Melendez said in a phone interview. “She still found a way to get open. She got good service from her teammates. She was getting good ball, beating one or two people and finishing.”
As for Lynden’s offense, it was the third game in a row the Lions have gone goalless since a 12-goal performance against Nooksack Valley on Oct. 7.
“That’s something we have to focus on,” Melendez said. “For us, just being a little relaxed in front of a goal.”
Lynden currently sits in the fifth position of the 2As and are on the outside looking in at districts going into Thursday’s match against against Ferndale.
