The Ferndale girls’ soccer team continued its strong play, defeating Nooksack Valley 9-1 on Thursday, Oct. 9, at Nooksack Valley Elementary in a Northwest Conference matchup.
Jazlyn Ahrens led the way with three goals, and Jordin Bartel added two of her own. Kate Goode added a score and recorded an assist, with Shelby Slaughter, Paige Devine and Christiana Salinas accounting for the rest of the Golden Eagles’ goals.
The Pioneers’ talented forward, Tori VandeHoef, scored their lone goal in the 64th minute.
“The pattern of play is what creates goals,” Ferndale coach Joe Gonzalez said in a phone interview. “That’s really important as we move toward the playoffs.”
Gonzalez also praised the play of Nooksack Valley, saying, “Nooksack stayed upbeat and positive. That shows me character.”
