Jayme Smits and Peyton Fullner each recorded a hat trick to lead Lynden girls’ soccer to a 12-0 Northwest Conference win over Nooksack Valley on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Bender Fields.
The Lions also had goals from Sierra Smith (2), Lexi Smiley, Cassidee Barclay, Kali Spady and Abby Stevenson. Fullner had two assists to go with her hat trick, and Lynden also had assists from Kellie Fiebig (2), Thalia Veliz, Kelsey Potts and Smith.
Tori VandeHoef had an early opportunity to put Nooksack Valley on the board, but Lynden goalkeeper Emily Holt made the save.
“In the first 10 seconds Tori had a really nice look on goal and Emily had to make a save,” Lynden coach Carlos Melendez said in a phone interview. “So in the first minute our team realized they were here to play and play hard. I had Sofia Milstead marking Tori, and she can turn it on at a moment’s notice, so she marked her the whole game.”
Lynden is off on Thursday, but back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Bender Fields against Anacortes.
