The Sehome girls’ soccer team recorded six second-half goals, leading to a 7-0 win over Mount Baker on Thursday, Sept. 25, at Civic Stadium in a Northwest Conference matchup.
“We weren’t finishing like we should have been, but in the second half we talked about focusing and finishing and we were able to put it all together,” Sehome coach Andria Fountain said in a phone interview.
Katie Mindnich and Lyla Pagnotta both scored two goals apiece, although it was Devin Grahn’s goal in the 38th minute that gave the Mariners a 1-0 lead going into halftime. Rebecca Lilliquist and Ava McIlvaine rounded out the Mariners’ scoring effort.
“I was just trying to get everyone in and give everybody an opportunity to play,” Fountain said.
Both Sehome (3-2-2, NWC 2-0-2) and Mount Baker (0-6-1, 0-3-0) are back in action Tuesday, Sept. 30, with the Mariners traveling to Ferndale and the Mountaineers facing Squalicum at Civic Stadium.
