Bellingham’s girls’ soccer team exploded for an 11-0 shutout win over Nooksack Valley on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Civic Stadium in a Northwest Conference game.
The Red Raiders’ Morgan Jones had three goals and one assist, Kayla Heidenreich had one goal and three assists and Brook Baker had three goals.
Peyton Schwinger, Mia Hodges and Kelly Dybevik each added a goal and an assist, and Kylie Mitchell had a goal. Chloe Campbell had three saves in goal to earn the shutout, as Bellingham kept Nooksack Valley’s Tori VandeHoef out of the net.
“Emma Brice is such an unheralded player, but she has to mark the strongest player on the other team and she did it again tonight,” Bellingham coach Mark Wright said in a phone interview. “It was something we talked about, being clean defensively. They all did a really nice job helping Chloe get a shutout. Nooksack didn’t get a lot of looks, but Tori did her thing.”
The Red Raiders took 35 shots to Nooksack Valley’s four.
Bellingham takes on Ferndale on Thursday, Sept. 25, with Nooksack Valley traveling to Meridian the same day.
