Squalicum’s girls’ soccer team continued its undefeated season with a 4-1 win over Cedarcrest on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Whatcom Community College.
Kim Hazlett scored two goals and Michelle Saunders finished with three assists to lead the Storm. Hazlett started things off with a 10th-minute goal and Kim Dorr scored three minutes later.
“We did a nice job finishing set pieces,” Squalicum (6-0-0, 2-0-0 NWC) coach David Kish said in a phone interview. “Michelle was doing a nice job of putting the ball in the box.”
Cedarcrest responded with a goal just before halftime against a Storm team that prides itself on keeping the ball out of its net.
Never miss a local story.
“It stung. It happened right before the half,” Kish said. “They were a little flat so it fired the girls up.”
Hazlett scored her second in the 64th minute and Jessica DeVere scored in the 74th.
Squalicum plays at Anacortes on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
