The Seattle Seahawks on Thursday, Oct. 23, honored Ferndale coach Jamie Plenkovich as one of two NFL High School Coaches of the Week for Week 7 of the high school season in Washington state.
Plenkovich guided the Golden Eagles to a 37-34 rivalry victory over previous Class 2A top-ranked Lynden on Friday. Ferndale’s win ended the Lions’ 33-game win streak and a 55-game Northwest Conference win streak.
Also honored was Eatonville’s George Fairhart, who led the 7-0 Cruisers to a 35-0 victory over Tenino on Friday, Oct. 17.
Plenkovich also received the award in 2005. More recently, Mount Baker’s Ron Lepper received the award in 2006 and 2009, and Lynden’s Curt Kramme was selected Coach of the Year by the Seahawks.
