Trailing by a score, the Bellingham Red Raiders reeled off four straight touchdowns to earn a 35-21 win over Bellevue Christian on Saturday night, Oct. 11, at Lake Washington High School in Kirkland.
The win was the Red Raiders’ third straight after losing their first three games of the year. Bellingham (3-3) compiled 436 total yards and received big efforts from Northwest Conference leading running back Tanner Aliff, as well as Kalien Hayes.
Aliff surpassed 200 yards rushing for the third consecutive week, this time accounting for 219 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries.
Hayes complemented the senior back well, running for 167 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries. He also completed 2 of 4 passes for 44 yards.
The Red Raiders found themselves behind 14-7 at the end of the first quarter, but a 31-yard touchdown run by Hayes and a 4-yard TD by Aliff put Bellingham in front 21-14 at the half.
Aliff helped Bellingham extend its lead to 28-14 with a 55-yard score in the third quarter, and Hayes’ 42-yard fourth quarter touchdown run gave the Red Raiders a 35-14 advantage.
The Red Raiders next host Orcas Island at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Civic Stadium.
