Fatigue took its toll on Lummi’s girls’ basketball team in its 54-37 defeat against Highland Christian on Friday, Jan. 30, at Highland Christian High School.
Sarah Burke led the Blackhawks with 11 points and Janyha Ell added 10 points.
“This is our fifth game in five nights. The fatigue really hit us in the game tonight,” Lummi coach Albert Toby said in a phone interview. “Our girls were losing energy after the first quarter. They didn’t give up and I’m grateful for that.”
After scoring 16 points in the first quarter, the Blackhawks were only able to total 21 points for the rest of the game.
