Blaine’s boys’ basketball team bounced back from a Northwest Conference loss to Sehome on Friday with a 67-53 nonleague win over Port Townsend on Saturday, Jan. 24, at Blaine High School.
Shaq Woods led the Borderites (5-11, 3-5 NWC) with 15 points, but it took a quarter for the team to get going.
“It was kind of funky to play in the middle of Saturday afternoon, but the intensity picked up and a lot of people contributed,” Blaine coach Shaun Pile said in a phone interview. “They were hungry and upset about last night. It took a little awakening, but once we got their attention by putting in guys who don’t normally get in, they matched that intensity.”
Charlie Baldwin added 11 points for Blaine, including three 3-pointers. He hit every shot he took and provided energy off the bench, Pile said.
Blaine takes on Ferndale at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at home.
