Meridian’s boys’ basketball team outscored Bellevue Christian by 10 in the second half in its 49-42 victory Monday, Dec. 29, in the Cloud 9 Christmas Classic at Lynden Christian High School.
The Trojans’ Alex Martin led the game with 19 points and Kyle Young added nine.
“We came out in the second half with a lot of effort,” Meridian coach Shane Stacy said in a phone interview. “Defensively our effort was a lot better this game.”
Thomas Utschinski was a player Stacy highlighted as providing a lot of energy in the second half, finishing with seven points and eight rebounds.
Meridian takes on South Whidbey next at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, in another Cloud 9 Christmas Classic matchup at Lynden Christian.
