Abby Reid scored 10 points and dished out a team-high four assists for Ferndale’s girls’ basketball team as it defeated Kentridge 57-40 on Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Juanita Tournament at Juanita High School.
Reid also made one of two 3-point field goals the Golden Eagles converted. Linsey Honeycutt led the team with a game-high 16 points and Carly Bannerman added 10 points.
“That’s about as complete a basketball game as we’ve played this year,” Ferndale coach Mike Ivy said in a phone interview. “All our girls worked extremely hard. Carly has been dealing with a hurt foot and hasn’t been practicing much, but she came off the bench to contribute. Abby Reid was huge today and was diving on the court for loose balls.”
Ferndale kept its turnover total down, giving away just four possessions. It also won the rebounding battle 34-20 thanks to a game-high seven boards from Honeycutt.
The Golden Eagles take on Thomas Jefferson High School next at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at Juanita Tournament at Juanita High School.
