Sehome’s girls’ basketball team suffered a 66-31 defeat to Arlington on Monday, Dec. 22, at Sehome High School.
The Mariners committed 17 turnovers to Arlington’s five.
Devin Grahn led the Mariners with nine points, and Maddy Bryan added seven points and a team-high six rebounds.
“They put a ton of pressure on you. They’re one of the top teams in the state in 3A,” Sehome coach Kim Kirk said in a phone interview, “but in the first half our kids stayed right with them. Madison MacPhee did a great job on their post. She kept her to 11 points and I know she averages more than that.”
Sehome was down 26-16 at halftime, but was outscored 40-15 in the second half.
Sehome takes on Bellevue Christian next at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 29, in the Cloud 9 Christmas Classic at Lynden Christian.
