Emily Benson scored 14 points, Kylie Clark had five rebounds and two assists, and the Bellingham girls’ basketball team rallied for 32 second-half points to defeat Marysville-Getchell 46-44 on Saturday, Dec. 20, at Bellingham.
The Red Raiders scored just 14 points in the first half, but bettered that mark in both the third and fourth quarters.
“The key difference in the second half was we moved the ball better on the offensive end,” Bellingham coach Ed Wissing said in a phone interview. “We protected the ball better than we have been. Kylie Clark put in 30 minutes at point guard and hardly turned the ball over, got some rebounds and assists, played great defense and found her teammates.”
Benson and Sarahbeth Pemble had clutch production down the stretch to seal the Bellingham win, Wissing added.
Bellingham plays Oak Harbor next at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at the Bulldog Holiday Classic at Mount Vernon High School.
