Sehome’s boys’ basketball team held off Nooksack Valley in the final minutes to take a 67-66 win Friday, Dec. 19, at Nooksack Valley.
The Pioneers jumped out to a 32-30 lead at halftime, but were done in by Sehome’s 20-point fourth quarter.
“We threw the ball away a couple of times, they capitalized and we had to foul,” Nooksack Valley coach Chris Scrimsher said in a phone interview. “Sehome never takes their foot off the throttle and they make you play their pace. It’s 32 minutes of press and traps, I thought we did a good job responding.”
Tanner Clark led the Mariners with 21 points and Leif Anderson had 20. Scrimsher said his team had to be aware of where Anderson was the entire game.
Connor Beard led the Pioneers with 17 points and seven assists, Aaron Bosscher had 11 points and Josh Gimmaka had 10.
“Connor did a good job managing the game,” Scrimsher said. “Josh Gimmaka came in and gave some great minutes.”
Nooksack Valley takes on Overlake at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Overlake, while Sehome takes on Arlington at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, on the road.
