Lummi’s boys’ basketball team used its height advantage to earn a 61-45 win over Mount Rainier Lutheran on Saturday, Dec. 13, at Lummi.
Trazil Lane led the Blackhawks with 19, and was part of the trio of “bigs” who did damage for Lummi.
“I thought tonight we did the damage with our size in the paint,” Lummi coach Jerome Toby said in a phone interview. “We had 11 of 19 field goals in the paint, so I thought we did a good job of using our size and attacking the basket. Jacob Roberts did a good job defensively with 10 rebounds. Trazil did good on the offensive end, he had a good rhythm and got to the basket. Willie Jones, too, those are our big guys and we took advantage of them.”
Roberts had seven points, and Jones added five. The Blackhawks also got 14 from Austin Brockie, including all four of their 3-pointers, and nine from Kavarez Lane.
Lummi takes on Lopez at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at Lopez.
