Sehome overcame a rough start, but couldn’t finish off Anacortes in a 60-50 loss on Friday, Dec. 12, at Sehome.
Maddy Bryan led the Mariners with 12 points, and Devin Grahn added 11, including three 3-pointers.
“We were down 12-1 to start the first and I called time out so the kids gathered themselves and battled back,” Sehome coach Kim Kirk said in a phone interview. “Then we had a great second quarter. Unfortunately we missed too many easy shots in the third. Then in the fourth with three-and-a-half mintues to go we started fouling and had a great chance to put ourselves back in, but we didn’t hit our shots or get to the rebounds.”
Bryan also shared the team lead for rebounds with Madison MacPhee, as each player had nine boards. Sarah Eisses added 10 points off the bench.
Sehome opens Northwest Conference play at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Mount Baker.
