Chalae Wolters had 26 points for Squalicum’s girls’ basketball team as it overcame 27 turnovers for a 51-42 win over Sehome on Thursday, Dec. 11, at Sehome.
The Mariners were led by Maddy Bryan’s 11 points and nine rebounds, but stumbled down the stretch.
“We actually were down two going into the half and had an eight-point run to take the lead,” Sehome coach Kim Kirk said in a phone interview. “They hit a couple shots to get back in it, and from there we didn’t do a great job on the boards. We just put a lot of full-court pressure on them, but we couldn’t convert when we got opportunities.”
Sydney Arndorfer added eight points for the Storm, and Devin Grahn had nine points for the Mariners.
Sehome takes on Anacortes at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at home, while Squalicum plays next at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at Blaine.
