The Nooksack Valley girls’ basketball team rolled to a 50-29 victory Monday, Dec. 8, over Bellingham at home.
Mariah Perry had 14 points and six assists for the Pioneers, Emelia Gimmaka and Payton Linville added 11 points each and Arlissa Oettel pulled down nine rebounds.
“I thought Bellingham played really nice, defensively, and we struggled hitting shots. It gave (Bellingham) a lot of confidence,” Nooksack Valley coach Shane Wichers said in a phone interview. “Payton Linville had her best game of the year so far. She hit three 3s and did a nice job.”
Joelle Zamora had 11 points for the Red Raiders.
Wichers said he’s satisfied with the direction the Pioneers are going this early in the season.
“Three games in and we’re 3-0 and we can’t complain about that too much,” Wichers said. “It’s a process but I love how hard we’re working and I’m excited for the rest of the season.”
The Red Raiders host Mount Baker at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, and the Pioneers host Meridian at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12.
