Sehome’s girls’ basketball team used strong defense to defeat Bellingham 48-36 in a non-conference game Thursday, Dec. 4, at Bellingham.
Maddy Bryan led the Mariners with 20 points, and Madison MacPhee had nine.
“Their full-court pressure forced us into a lot of turnovers, and when we were more patient it took us awhile to get over halfcourt, so we couldn’t get into a rhythm,” Bellingham coach Ed Wissing said in a phone interview.
Jacobsen finished with 12 points, while Joelle Zamora had a team-high 13 for the Red Raiders.
“I was really impressed with the effort from Autumn Jacobsen, a freshman, contributing on both ends and working hard to get to the basket,” Wissing added.
Bellingham takes on Nooksack Valley at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at Nooksack. Sehome hosts Marysville-Pilchuck at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at home.
