“We just had that one big inning where the kids saw the ball well,” Nooksack Valley coach Tom Harmon said in a phone interview. “The nice thing was we didn’t just sit on it, knowing what kind of team LC has been. They’ve scored quite a few runs the last few games, so we knew we had to score more.”
Jenah Korthuis was the top hitter for the Lyncs, going 2 for 3.
Nooksack Valley takes the No. 2 seed among NWC 1A teams, and Lynden Christian takes the third seed. The Pioneers play next at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 21, at Janicki Fields against Cedar Park Christian Bothell. Lynden Christian takes on Sultan at the same time and place. Second-round games begin at 6 p.m. or 30 minutes after the first-round games end.
