Lynden Christian’s baseball team couldn’t find a way to get runs on the board as it suffered an 8-0 nonconference loss to Burlington-Edison on Saturday, May 2, at home.
Tanner Jansen was one of five freshmen to start for the Lyncs as he suffered the loss on the mound. Freshman outfielder Gerrit Sterk was 1 for 3.
Josh Heutink was the solid veteran presence for LC, going 3 for 3 at the plate.
“We had a lot of chances and we couldn’t come up big, other than Heutink,” LC coach Desi Luna said in a phone interview. “We couldn’t muster any hits with runners in scoring position. Tanner came out and did pretty well. We’ve been working with him pretty hard, battling and throwing strikes, and some off-speed stuff. I was very impressed, he threw a lot of strikes and gave us a chance, and that’s all you can ask for.”
Lynden Christian is back in Northwest Conference action at 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 4, at Joe Martin Stadium against Bellingham.
