Ferndale’s baseball team overcame a seventh-inning rally by Glacier Peak to take an 8-6 nonconference win in extra innings on Saturday, May 2, at Glacier Peak.
The Golden Eagles crushed 18 hits in the big win over a fellow class 3A opponent. Kole Weidkamp had a pair of RBI, Kyle Sandstrom had three runs and Ian Barnes had an RBI. All three hitters went 3 for 4.
“We came out swinging a bit and got up on them,” Ferndale coach Donny Hennigs said in a phone interview. “We let our guard down in the seventh and let them get back in the game, but lucky for us we were able to find a way to win in extras.”
Ferndale returns to Northwest Conference play at 4 p.m. Monday, May 4, at home against Sehome.
