Bellingham’s baseball team was defeated by Anacortes 3-1 in eight innings on Wednesday, April 22, at Joe Martin Field.
The Seahawks jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after the first inning. The Red Raiders tied it up in the sixth inning, forcing the game to go into extra innings. Bellingham had the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, but couldn’t push a run across and Anacortes scored two in the top of the eigth to ultimately win the game.
Brad Johnson pitched a complete game and received the loss for Bellingham.
“It was a great ball game,” Bellingham coach David Farrell said in a phone interview. “We had the opportunity to win but came up short.”
Bellingham will play Sedro-Woolley next at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at Joe Martin Field.
