Bellingham’s softball team withstood some rough playing conditions in its 15-11 Northwest Conference win over Blaine on Tuesday, April 21, at Pipeline Fields.
“It was an absolute miserable day to play softball,” Bellingham (6-6, 1-5 NWC) coach Rick Ellis said in a phone interview. “Who knows what was going to happen. ... It was kind of adventurous but our kids showed some mental toughness.”
Carrie Lattimer, Paige Jacobsen and Cammy Serena led the way at the plate with seven of the Red Raiders’ 12 hits and a combined eight RBI. Blaine’s Alyssa Starcer, Lexi Greguski and Riley Miller all had good days at the plate as well.
Eliza Rossman got the win in the circle and Lyric Berry took the loss.
Never miss a local story.
Bellingham plays Friday Harbor in a make-up game Wednesday, April 22, at home, while the Borderites (4-8, 2-4) try to rebound against Sedro-Woolley on Thursday, April 23, at Janicki Fields.
