Eliza Rossman struck out 12 batters and went 4 for 4 with a double and two RBI to lead Bellingham’s softball team in its 13-4 victory against Friday Harbor on Thursday, April 2, at Bellingham High School.
The Red Raiders jumped out to an early 10-1 lead after the first inning and never looked back.
“We had five hits in the first inning and a couple extra base hits,” Bellingham coach Rick Ellis said in a phone interview. “We put the ball in play pretty hard and it resulted in some miscues on their (Friday Harbor’s) part and we took advantage.”
Carrie Latimer went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI, Paige Jacobsen went 1 for 4 with a double and two RBI and Lindsey Richard went 1 for 3 with two runs and three RBI for Bellingham.

The Red Raiders now hold a 5-4 record heading into spring break, already matching its win total from last season.
“I think we’re winning games we’re supposed to and starting to be more competitive,” Ellis said. “I like the direction our team is heading and I know were capable of playing good, sound, ball.”
Bellingham takes on Sehome next at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Geri Fields.
